Psalm 100: 1-2, 3, 5 (Read)
"We are God's people,
the sheep of his flock."
The Psalm begins with a call for us to 'sing joyfully to the Lord.' And as our psalmist says, we are called to 'worship the Lord with cries of gladness; come before Him with joyful song.'
But after all, we are like sheep,
and we need someone to look
after us so that we don't go astray.
What could be better than to have Jesus
as our Good Shepherd? We are his
lambs; we hear his voice; He knows
us; and we follow Him.
As our psalmist says, we belong to God.
And God has given us to his Son. No one
can take us out of his hand.
We are a well tended flock indeed.
As our Lord's sheep, we hear his voice,
we follow Him, and we praise Him because,
'Good indeed is the Lord, his love endures
forever, his faithfulness lasts through every
generation.'
Amen

Psalm 100 reminds me of the joy and security that come from belonging to God. The words, "We are God's people, the sheep of his flock," speak deeply to my heart. Sheep depend on their shepherd for guidance, protection, and care. In the same way, I depend on Jesus, my Good Shepherd, to lead me through life's challenges and uncertainties.
ReplyDeleteThere is great comfort in knowing that I am not walking alone. Jesus knows me personally, calls me by name, and gently guides me along the right path (I often tell my friends and sisters in Christ that the Lord and I often have coffee together and talk about my stuff! He knows me so well!). When I feel lost, anxious, or overwhelmed, I can trust that He is watching over me and leading me with love. Being one of His sheep means I am safe in His care and held securely in His hands. Nothing can separate me from His love, nothing!
The psalm also calls me to "serve the Lord with gladness." This reminds me that serving God is not meant to be a burden but a joyful response to His goodness. One way I try to serve Him with a joyful spirit is by showing kindness and encouragement to others. Whether it is offering a listening ear, helping someone in need, or simply sharing a word of hope, I see these moments as opportunities to reflect Christ's love. When I serve others with gratitude and compassion, I am serving the Lord.
What stands out most in this psalm is the reminder that God's love endures forever and His faithfulness lasts through every generation. His goodness never changes. No matter what circumstances I face, I can praise Him because He remains constant, loving, and faithful.
Today, I am grateful to be part of God's flock, cared for by the Good Shepherd who never leaves nor abandons His sheep. With a heart full of thanksgiving, I join the psalmist in singing joyfully to the Lord and praising Him for His everlasting love.
