Psalm for July 29, 2012

Reflections

“The eyes of all look hopefully to you;
you give them their food in due season.”

Just as Elisha fed one hundred men
from a few barley loaves,
so Jesus feeds a multitude of us
even today.   We too are among
the hopeful ones  who look to the Lord
for our food in due season.
“The hand of the Lord feeds us.”

His presence is shown in the help,
nourishment, and salvation
that He shows to us.
We are  dependent
on our Lord to feed us.
Just as Jesus fed five thousand men
from a few loaves and two fish,
so Jesus provides us
with spiritual nourishment even today.

“The Lord satisfies the desire
of every living thing,”
as our psalmist says.
He opens wide his hand for us.
All we have to do is call upon him.
Our psalmist says it right –
“You Lord are near to all
who call upon you.”

We are His faithful ones,
and we praise God and give Him thanks
because of His divine attributes
of compassion and love.
And we sing this psalm
in honor of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who shares fully in the perfection of God,
and in the works of the Father.

Amen

The Lord is feeding me both spiritually and physically as I have recently started exercising using a treadmill and in order to help me stay on task I have found that praying the Rosary as I walk helps me stay motivated. As I pray, the Lord is answering my need to get in shape.

There are times in Church when we are singing hymns and suddenly my eyes start to fill up with tears, I know that the Lord is telling me that He is present. At other times when reaching out to the Lord in prayer, I can feel an overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit. It is at these times that I know God is near and listening to my prayer.

  3. I do believe that in one way or another, the Lord addresses all our questions. But He has a sense of humor. You never know when or how He is going to answer your concern or question. Sometimes the answer He gives you is not when or what you want to hear. Sometimes He expects you to answer your own question.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, "What's blocking the joy?" Next time you are in difficulty, ask this question, and it will be answered.

  4. l. As Jesus fed five thousand men from five loaves of bread and two fish, He is our source of all our daily needs. And He satisfies the desires of every living thing on earth. When we cry out and call on him, He'll provide our food at the proper time and multiply our physical food. And also He feeds us with spiritual nourishment through His Body and Blood (Sacrament of the Eucharist) even today. This refreshes our soul and gives us strength when we are weary. Because of His character, compassionate, loving, and faithful toward us, He desires to feed us either physically or spiritually to save us, out of His love toward all He has made.

As I look at the boy in the above image, offering Jesus all he has (five loaves of bread and two fish), what was happened? Jesus uses our offerings for others. Through us He can multiply things to bless others. He taught us how to share what we have. In this way His kingdom expands to an everlasting kingdom.

    2. There was a time I was helpless and depressed for no specific reason. I sought divine help because I was totally confused and lost. I surrendered to Him. I yielded to Him. I left my burden, which weighed me down, at His feet. It is true that He is near to the brokenhearted. I was comforted by Him, and His peace was flowing through my entire body. Praise his holy name!
